Ansan City, led by Mayor Min-geun Lee, has signed a business agreement with mobility platform operator Socar Co., Ltd. (CEO Jae-wook Park) focused on community support and shared development.
The city said on March 30 that to improve residents’ transportation access through smart mobility, Ansan became the first municipality in Gyeonggi Province to finalize an agreement with Socar on March 26.
Under the pact, the city will provide the administrative support needed to attract car-rental businesses, while Socar will increase local registration of its rental fleet to help boost regional tax revenue.
The two parties will also run joint marketing campaigns to promote major festivals and local tourism. Residents will gain access to a range of benefits, including promotional offers and partner discounts.
Socar currently operates ‘Socar Zones’ at 13 municipal parking lots across Ansan. The company says this improves mobility in underserved neighborhoods and during late-night hours, and the city expects it will generate additional operating income by putting underused public parking space to work.
Mayor Min-geun Lee said, \”This agreement will expand practical transportation services residents can use in their daily lives and help bolster the city’s finances. We will continue partnering with businesses to build a smarter Ansan.\”
