AXA Insurance announced today (February 10) that it’s offering practical services for holiday travel through its ‘AXA Direct Auto Insurance.’ These include a temporary driver endorsement, emergency roadside assistance, 16 types of maintenance coupons, and winter vehicle care services.

As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, the surge in travel and homecoming trips makes the day before the holiday the riskiest for accidents. The Korea Insurance Development Institute and the General Insurance Association report that during the holiday period, auto insurance personal injury accidents spike to an average of 12,052 daily – a 13.6% increase from normal. The accident rate also jumps to 17.8%, 2.3 percentage points higher than usual.
AXA Direct Auto Insurance’s temporary driver endorsement allows policyholders to customize their coverage by designating drivers such as spouses, family members, siblings, or a specific individual.
This coverage can extend up to 30 days and includes accidents involving third-party drivers, like designated drivers, within the policy’s terms.
To promote proactive safety measures, AXA is offering 16 types of maintenance coupons to its auto insurance customers.
These coupons provide discounts on essential services, including bi-annual engine oil checks and changes, 30% off air conditioning and heater filter replacements, and a 10% discount on labor costs.
The program also features practical benefits like 50% off wipers for domestic cars and 30% off for imported vehicles.
Additionally, until February 28, AXA is running a ‘Winter Vehicle Care Service.’ This initiative helps auto insurance customers check crucial winter maintenance items, including tire pressure and wear, battery condition, and various fluid levels.
The company’s emergency roadside assistance endorsement covers seven types of services, including emergency towing, battery charging, and tire puncture repair.
An AXA spokesperson emphasized, “Holiday travel often involves long-distance driving and heavy traffic, which can affect both vehicle condition and driver arrangements. Conducting thorough pre-trip checks and clearly defining authorized drivers significantly enhances travel safety.”
