Volvo Cars Korea has unveiled the XC40 Black Edition, a premium compact SUV, as its first special edition of the year.

Last year, Volvo secured the fourth position in the Korean automotive market with 14,903 units sold. The launch of this Black Edition is part of their strategy to maintain strong performance in the Korean market through 2026.

The XC40, Volvo’s inaugural compact SUV, made its global debut in 2017 and underwent a facelift in 2021.

Embodying Scandinavian design principles, the XC40 sold 2,849 units in Korea last year, clinching the top spot in the imported premium compact SUV segment.

This Black Edition, available exclusively online, sports an Onyx Black exterior that makes a bold statement. The front iron mark, logo, and rear lettering are all unified in black, enhancing its sophisticated appeal.

The interior maintains this cohesive theme with urban grid decor, a black gear knob, and charcoal-colored seats, creating a refined atmosphere.

Exclusive perks for limited edition buyers

The XC40 Black Edition comes standard with the Shield Package, valued at 1.25 million KRW (about 937.50 USD). This package includes an engine underguard plate and front and rear mud flaps. Buyers will also receive a special Black Edition welcome kit featuring a black keychain and pouch.

Despite being Volvo’s entry-level model, the XC40 is equipped with the brand’s advanced safety technologies and premium Swedish features as standard.

Additional benefits include a 5-year/100,000 km warranty on general parts, consumables replacement service, 15 years of free over-the-air updates, and a complimentary 5-year 5G digital package, significantly enhancing the ownership experience.

Sales begin December 12 on a first-come, first-served basis

The 2026 XC40 Black Edition is priced at 56.1 million KRW (about 42,075 USD), a 3.8 million KRW (about 2,850 USD) premium over the base Plus Bright trim at 52.3 million KRW (about 39,225 USD). For customers seeking a distinctive limited-edition vehicle, this price point offers compelling value.

The XC40 Black Edition will be available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. on December 12 through Volvo Cars’ digital shop, with deliveries scheduled based on order placement.

Lee Yun-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, expressed optimism about the Black Edition, stating, “We hope customers will appreciate the XC40’s quality and the unique appeal of the Black Edition at a competitive price point.”

Industry observers are keen to see how Volvo’s first special edition of the year will be received by consumers in the Korean automotive market.
