A crew from Japan’s MBS (Mainichi Broadcasting System) visited the Daegu Citizen Safety Theme Park to film a special marking the 21st anniversary of the Fukuchiyama train derailment.
The Daegu Fire and Safety Headquarters said on the 16th that Osaka-based MBS is one of Japan’s most influential media outlets. The team visited on the 14th to report in depth on the city’s accident preservation facility and its disaster-safety education programs.
During the visit, the crew toured the subway safety experience center’s main exhibits and took part in hands-on programs. They also interviewed officials about the public opening of the accident preservation facility and the need for practical safety training.
The Daegu Citizen Safety Theme Park was established after the 2003 Daegu subway disaster to raise awareness about public safety and to strengthen disaster response capabilities.
Woo Byung-wook, director of the Daegu Citizen Safety Theme Park, said, “Interest abroad in our safety training programs is growing. We will continue to expand hands-on training so residents can respond effectively in real emergencies.”
