[Digital Today reporter Son Seul-gi] Kim Jong-cheol, chairman of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission, attended the ‘2026 Korea Private Broadcasters Day’ ceremony at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center on the 17th. He said private broadcasters have documented local life and served as a bulwark defending democratic values.
That day, he held talks with the leadership of nine private broadcasters — including SBS, KNN, TBC and TBJ — to discuss regulatory and promotion policies affecting local stations and to hear industry requests and concerns.
He emphasized that the commission will back policy measures to strengthen competitiveness by rationally reforming remaining regulations and by expanding support for content production.
Korea Private Broadcasters Day is an annual event organized by the Korea Private Broadcasters Association since 2006 to honor outstanding programs and individuals who have contributed to the development of broadcasting.
