Family members have spoken out about the estate of the late Seo Hee-won, wife of singer Gu Jun-yeop.
On July 10th, Taiwanese media outlet TVBS reported claims that Seo Hee-won’s mother had hired a lawyer to block Gu Jun-yeop from inheriting her estate.
Seo Hee-won’s younger brother, Seo Hee-je, responded through their agency, denouncing the rumors. “Those spreading such gossip have truly malicious intentions,” he stated. “My brother-in-law gave my sister pure love and brought her true happiness. We are forever grateful to him. He is our family. Please stop spreading these baseless rumors.”
Seo Hee-won tragically passed away on February 2nd last year due to complications from acute pneumonia while vacationing in Tokyo, Japan. She was 48 years old. Her brother, Seo Hee-je, officially confirmed her death shortly after, saying, “My sister has ultimately left us.”
On the first anniversary of her passing, Gu Jun-yeop shared a heartfelt, handwritten letter on social media. “I’m sorry for showing such vulnerability,” he wrote. “But this is my way of coping with my longing for you. I hope you understand. When we meet again, let’s be together forever. I miss you. I miss you so much. I miss you desperately.” Recently, a statue commemorating Seo Hee-won was unveiled in the Jinbaoshan area, with Gu Jun-yeop and family members in attendance.
