
[Variety] Ahn Da-bin, daughter of the late Ahn Sung-ki, shared a touching tribute to her father, leaving fans deeply moved.
On February 10, Ahn took to social media to express her emotions, writing, “This is the first solo exhibition I couldn’t share with Dad.” She also posted several photos, adding, “I feel like I’ve begun to grasp how to paint from the heart.”
The artist shared images of herself at the exhibition venue. She continued, “The wisdom my father imparted to me now resonates deeply. Thank you, Dad. I’ll continue to work diligently on my art,” conveying her profound love for her late father.
Fans responded with messages of support and empathy. “Your work is truly moving,” one commented, while another wrote, “Your father is surely watching over your art with pride.”
Ahn Sung-ki, a beloved figure in Korean cinema, passed away at 74 on January 1 in the ICU of Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Seoul. He had been rushed there after choking during a meal at home, but despite emergency efforts, he couldn’t be revived.
The actor had battled blood cancer since 2019. After initially being declared cancer-free a year later, he suffered a relapse and had been in and out of the hospital for treatment.
In a heart-wrenching twist, Ahn Sung-ki passed away just one day after his daughter’s birthday on January 4. Ahn Da-bin reflected, “Dad stayed by my side until the very end,” adding an extra layer of poignancy to the loss.
