If you thought your matcha latte was a mellow pick-me-up, think again. A new Korea Consumer Agency study found that caffeine levels in matcha lattes and milk teas sold at chain cafés can vary by nearly fourfold across products. The agency tested 12 tea drinks from six brands, including Starbucks and A Twosome Place, and measured caffeine ranging from 45 mg to 172 mg per serving — more than a fourfold difference. Notably, the milk teas from Starbucks and A Twosome Place contained more caffeine than a regular Americano. Some products also exceeded half of the recommended daily sugar intake. The agency recommended that certain brands expand sweetness-adjustment options in their mobile ordering. For Yonhap News TV inquiries and tips: KakaoTalk/Line jebo23.
