Samsung Electronics staged Galaxy Watch Run @ Safari — a Samsung Health–linked running event — at Everland on May 17.
Back for its second year, Galaxy Watch Run @ Safari expanded from last year and drew roughly 1,000 participants.
Runners tackled a 4.82km (3.0 miles) course that included areas normally open only to vehicles, like Everland’s Lost Valley and Safari World, turning the park into a one-of-a-kind running playground.
Samsung paired the Galaxy Watch with Samsung Health and promoted the idea: Start your run with Galaxy Watch, finish it with Samsung Health. The company said the program was designed so participants could try integrated health-management features firsthand — from pre-event missions to on-site record-verification challenges.
As Korea enters a \”10 million runners\” era, Samsung is shifting the emphasis from pure race competition to long-term health management and habit building. It’s highlighting recovery support after runs and everyday health care as key differentiators.
Former national marathoner and coach Kwon Eun-ju helped develop Samsung Health’s Running Coach program.
Before the event, participants used the Galaxy Watch8 series and Samsung Health’s specialized features to manage their condition. These included running-coach analysis of current fitness level, sleep-coaching–based sleep pattern management, practice-run record verification, and antioxidant index measurement.
On race day, participants warmed up and trained with Coach Kwon Eun-ju, then ran the course wearing their watches. Using Samsung Health, they checked real-time heart rate and split times and experienced the app’s personalized features in action.
Samsung awarded every finisher a commemorative medal shaped like the Galaxy Watch8 and provided Everland admission tickets. On-site festivities included a congratulatory performance by Samsung Health ambassador and singer Sean, a best-dresser award, and a lucky draw.
Park Jeong-mi, vice president and head of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, \”We will continue to expand programs so customers can easily and enjoyably experience watch-based health care features.\”
