Suncheon City is rolling out plans for an urban food festival that blends the region’s culinary culture with sensory, feel-good experiences.
Ahead of 2026 Suncheon Food Week, running June 20–27, the city is inviting vendors to apply to run gourmet markets and interactive experience booths.
Shifting away from the typical stall-heavy format, organizers want people to linger—locals and visitors alike. The main stage at Nammunteo Square will be styled as an open, picnic-like dining area, so guests can soak up Suncheon Bay’s vibe while sampling local flavors.
Eligible applicants are food-service businesses registered to operate in Suncheon. Vendors selling food, desserts, and drinks, or offering cooking classes, ingredient workshops, and other participatory culinary programs are all welcome to apply.
The city plans to select about 20 booths and will favor vendors who use Suncheon’s agricultural specialties and local ingredients or who offer distinctive, hands-on experiences.
This year’s Food Week is expanding beyond a simple sales fair into a hybrid cultural event combining performances, chill-out zones, and hands-on activities. On-site programming will include live music, atmospheric photo spots, and chef cooking demos to create an urban “gourmet picnic” atmosphere.
Interested businesses should submit applications by email by the 25th. Details and the application form are available on Suncheon City’s official website.
A Suncheon City official said, “We are preparing a new type of food festival that tells the stories of local food, places, and people. We expect these distinctive Suncheon Bay culinary offerings to help revitalize the local economy and boost tourism.”
