[Herald Economy reporter Jung Chan-su] Starbucks Korea is launching a trio of “Korea Raon” goods on May 19 that reinterpret traditional Korean motifs with a modern sensibility (photo).
The new collection includes the Korea Raon mug (414 mL, about 14.0 fl oz), the SS Korea Raon tumbler (355 mL, about 12.0 fl oz), and the SS Korea Raon tumbler (473 mL, about 16.0 fl oz). The designs translate Korean symbols — dancheong (traditional multicolored architectural painting), tigers, and magpies — into elegant line drawings. An aurora-toned color palette is applied to visually fuse tradition with contemporary style.
The name “Raon” comes from a pure Korean word meaning “joyful,” expressing Starbucks’ hope that visitors to Korea will take home happy memories. The goods will be available starting May 19 at 209 tourist-area stores nationwide and through the Starbucks app online store.
“We’ll keep introducing distinctive products that reflect the lifestyles and trends of our diverse customers,” said Lee Sang-mi, Starbucks Korea’s marketing lead.
