What started as a comical mishap in Thailand quickly turned serious when a pricey gold necklace disappeared into the stomachs of three Pomeranians while their owner slept — and emergency surgery became necessary.
Local outlets, including The Thaiger, report that 41-year-old Nattapon Lukachat posted on social media that his dogs had chewed up and swallowed a gold chain worth several million won.
He keeps three Pomeranians. The night before, he left a gold necklace valued at about ₩9,600,000 (roughly $7,200) on a chair and fell asleep.
The next morning began with his girlfriend’s scream. When Nattapon woke up, he found the dogs had shredded the necklace, stuffing pieces into their mouths while fragments were scattered across the floor.

After the dogs began vomiting and passing metal pieces, the couple rushed them to a veterinary clinic. X-rays clearly showed sharp gold fragments lodged in the dogs’ stomachs.
Because the shards could have punctured internal organs and put their lives at risk, veterinarians performed emergency surgery and successfully removed the gold fragments.
Nattapon urged other pet owners to never leave valuables or dangerous items where their animals can reach them.
According to reports, the recovered gold pieces and broken debris were collected by hospital staff and sold to a jewelry shop.
