Tteumbukguk, Jindo’s iconic local dish that pairs tender beef ribs with delicate seaweed, was in the spotlight.
On the 9th, KBS 1TV’s Dongne Han Bakkwi (A Walk Around the Neighborhood) featured Jindo’s tteumbukguk.
Tteumbukguk is a signature restorative stew from Jindo County. It slowly simmers prized seaweed called ‘tteumbugi (deumbugi)’ with beef ribs to create a nourishing, deeply flavored broth. Tteumbugi resembles miyeok (seaweed) but is much softer and offers a pleasantly popping texture; it gives the stock a rich, briny depth while keeping the overall taste clean and refreshing.
Owner Park Suk-hyun said, “I opened the restaurant planning to quit after 10 years, but so many people keep coming that I don’t see myself stepping away.”
