K-Pop Stars Give Back: How Changmin and IU’s Generous Donations Impact Children’s Lives

Celebrities opened their hearts on May 5 — Children’s Day — donating to hospitals and welfare organizations to support kids in need.
Samsung Seoul Hospital announced on May 5 that TVXQ member Choi Kang Changmin donated 55 million KRW (approximately $41,250) in honor of Children’s Day.
In a statement, Choi said, “On Children’s Day — a day when every child should be happiest — I wanted to lend a little strength to kids spending this special day in hospital rooms, fighting illness. I sincerely hope they regain bright, healthy smiles and can fully pursue their precious dreams.”
The hospital said the donation will be used to support economically disadvantaged pediatric and adolescent patients.
Singer and actor IU also stepped up to help. She donated 50 million KRW (approximately $37,500) that day to the Korea Child Welfare Association, giving under the combined name “IU-AeNa,” a blend of her name and her fan club, Uaena.
Actress Han Ji-min donated 50 million KRW (approximately $37,500) to JTS (Join Together Society). JTS said the funds will be used to fight child hunger worldwide, expand educational opportunities, and support other areas in need.
