A tourist posted that a metal scouring pad and a sink drain cover were found in food at a restaurant near Mungyeong Saejae — and now people are questioning the restaurant’s cleanliness.
On the 2nd, a post titled “Mungyeong Saejae‑Front Specialty: Sink Drain‑Cover Doenjang Stew” appeared on the online forum Bobaedream. The author, identified as A, said they and their family recently visited a restaurant near Mungyeong Saejae and had an unpleasant experience.
A said the menu was limited that day, but since they were on a family trip, they ordered a dried mackerel set and other dishes.
After they started eating, they discovered a metal scouring pad in the grilled mackerel. When they alerted the staff, the restaurant reportedly offered to remake the dish rather than apologize.
When the family declined, staff reportedly said, “We’ll remove it from the bill,” and walked away without further explanation.

The family later says they found an entire sink drain cover in the doenjang stew served with the meal.
When they complained, staff allegedly told them, “Don’t pay — just leave. If you get stomach pains later, we’ll bill you.”
Right after the complaint, the restaurant reportedly posted an “All seats reserved” sign at the entrance, the post said.
But the poster claims that once the family left, the sign was taken down and the restaurant continued serving customers as usual.
A wrote, “It wasn’t some other object or an insect — it was a sink drain cover. What a disgusting day.”
The post has since spread online, igniting debate about the restaurant’s hygiene practices and its handling of the incident.
