[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] Park Myung-soo sat down to sample a lineup of tteok — Korea’s beloved rice cakes — all in one go.
On May 1, the YouTube channel ‘Halmyungsoo’ uploaded a new video showing him tasting 10 different varieties of tteok.
For the episode, producers handpicked signature rice cakes from 10 trending tteok shops. Park started with the pumpkin injeolmi from Gwangju’s Chang-eok Tteok and then worked his way through an eclectic selection.
He likened the coating on the pumpkin injeolmi to castella powder and said that on the first bite it reminded him of a roll cake. He praised its chewy texture and nutty finish, adding that it would be perfect to share with coworkers.
Raving about Obok Tteokjip’s macaron-style monaka, he described it as “as special as a national holiday” — fit for a king — and said the tteok-and-butter pairing exceeded his expectations.
After trying the cheese tteok from Haengbok Tteokjip, he recommended eating it warm to get the full flavor, recalling a similar moment from a previous video.
Known as a “bread guy,” Park confessed that if he had to pick one food for life he’d choose tteok over bread, explaining that tteok digests like rice and feels lighter on the stomach than wheat-based treats.
He sampled offerings from shops including Gyeonggi Tteokjip, Apgujeong Gongju Tteok, and Pyeonghwa Tteok Workshop, ultimately naming Myeongdong Tteokjip’s red-bean–coated glutinous rice cake and Donghae Gijeong’s Hanpan Gijeong as his top picks.
Though he enjoyed many flavors during filming, he said the day’s top tteok was chosen with the set’s vibe and the crowd in mind.
Toward the end of the video, a preview showed him taking driving lessons with Miyeon of (G)I-DLE, which caught viewers’ attention.
