Heo Kyung-hwan showed off Tongyeong’s irresistible flavors on MBC’s Hangout with Yoo.
On the 25th episode of the MBC variety show Hangout with Yoo, Heo introduced ujja — a local noodle dish from Tongyeong.

When the crowd cheered, Yang Sang-guk quipped, “I’m Yang Sang-guk, the son of Gyeongsang Province.” But when Heo Kyung-hwan didn’t get as warm a welcome as expected, Yoo Jae-suk asked, “What’s going on here?”
Yang added, “When we went to Jinyoung, and I stood beside senior Yoo Jae-suk, people would immediately shout, ‘Sang-guk!'”
Heo led the crew to an ujja restaurant. Explaining the dish to those unfamiliar, he said, “The broth is a jajang (black bean) base flavored with dipo-ri (dried anchovies).”
The first dish out was bbaettegi juk. Trying it for the first time, Yang said, “It’s sweet.” Yoo Jae-suk chimed in, “It has the mellow, pumpkin-porridge vibe with sweet potato — really comforting.”
Next came ujja. A noodle lover, Yoo took a bite and remarked, “It’s not the bold, heavy jjajang flavor I expected.” Heo explained, “People often have ujja late at night or in the early morning as a hangover cure.”
