Kim Yong-bin turned to his grandmother’s recipes, cooking up nostalgic comfort food.

On April 24, KBS 2TV aired ‘Shinsangchulsi Pyeonstaurant,’ where Kim recreated the side dishes he missed most from his grandmother.
He started with his grandmother’s braised mackerel and then happily demolished it with a bowl of rice, calling it delicious. After tasting his own cooking, he laughed, \”I can’t believe I made this,\” clearly impressed.
Next, Kim took on his grandmother’s grilled cutlassfish. He scored the fish the way she did, mixed tempura flour with curry powder, and grilled it until it turned a beautiful golden brown. Remembering tips from his aunt, he finished the dish using what he called his grandmother’s secret method. Looking at the gleaming fillets, he couldn’t help but praise himself: \”Did I really make this?\”
After taking a bite, he said, \”This tastes just like my grandmother’s,\” beaming with satisfaction. Kim packed the dishes he made into lunchboxes as a tribute to her, and viewers admired the rookie ‘Pyeon’ chef’s surprising skills.
