[SPOTV News reporter Kim Hyun-rok] On MBC’s I Live Alone, chef Kim Si-hyun—affectionately nicknamed “Baby Beast”—finds himself in a wild-greens wonderland. He forages with glee, gathering fresh greens and even fashioning them into a playful bouquet, clearly delighted by the experience.
The episode airing on the 3rd (directed by Heo Hang, Kang Ji-hee, Kim Jin-kyung, Moon Ki-young and Jeong Ji-woon) follows Chef Kim on a springtime foraging getaway.
That day, Chef Kim tags along with his mentor, Tongyeong culinary researcher Lee Sang-hee, to hunt for open-grown wild greens. With a basket in one hand and a harvesting knife in the other, he pauses in awe at the sweeping sea view and the lush scene of what they call a “wild-greens paradise.”
After getting the landowner’s permission—a friend of his mentor—Chef Kim dives into harvesting. His mentor keeps urging him, “Open your eyes wide—everything’s a treasure!” and points out hidden, gem-like greens for him to try.
Kim gushes, “They’re so beautiful!” then gathers the plants, laughing as he says, “They’d make a perfect bouquet!” He later spots a particular plant and beams, “I finally found it!”—leaving viewers curious about which green moved him so.

The show also follows him as he uses the greens he gathered and ingredients picked up at a local traditional market to learn Tongyeong’s regional dishes: bangpung tangpyeongchae and namul seolchiguk, a wild-greens soup. Under his mentor’s guidance, Chef Kim focuses on prepping the ingredients and seasoning the greens with care.
Surprised by the new combinations and flavors, he fires off questions even after the cooking is done, meticulously filling his personal recipe notebook.
Watch Chef Kim explore Tongyeong’s wild-greens paradise on MBC’s I Live Alone, airing on the 3rd at 11:10 PM.
