[iNews24 reporter Ahn Young-rok] A new local food distribution center—designed to serve as a hub for a sustainable, community-driven food system—officially opened in Goesan County, North Chungcheong Province on April 1.
Goesan County held a ribbon-cutting and completion ceremony on April 1 in the Jeweol-ri area of Goesan-eup to strengthen the stable distribution and consumption of locally grown produce.

The center was built with KRW 3.53 billion (approximately $2.65 million) and covers a total floor area of 1,264.75 m² (about 13,614 sq ft). It houses five cold storage units, one pre-cooling room, a flexible loading and unloading bay, a processing workspace, offices, and five refrigerated trucks.
The facility will function as an integrated distribution hub, handling everything from collection and sorting to packaging and shipment of local farm products.
Key initiatives include building a producer collection network, strengthening cold-chain storage and logistics, expanding supply links with school and public meal programs, and boosting sales through connections with local food direct-sale shops—creating a positive feedback loop for the region’s food system.
Goesan Food Solidarity Social Cooperative (led by Lee Do-hoon) will operate the center under a two-year consignment agreement through March 2028.
