Former Chungju city official Kim Sun-tae has tapped Genesis BBQ Group as his new promotional partner.
On the 27th, Kim uploaded a YouTube video titled ‘BBQ Promotion.’
He visited BBQ’s headquarters in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and sat down with Chairman Yun Hong-geun. Yun shared the behind-the-scenes story of how their signature Golden Olive Chicken came to be.
Yun said they even bit into raw chicken to compare textures and confirm freshness.

Yun also addressed claims that Golden Olive Chicken doesn’t use olive oil.
Yun explained, “Olive oil costs about 15 times more than regular cooking oil. We don’t use it 100%, but roughly 51% of the oil we use is olive oil.”
When Kim joked, “You have the majority of the voting rights,” Yun laughed and replied, “That’s right.”
Yun also recalled the brand’s connection to BTS. The group served as BBQ ad models in April 2016 during their rookie days. Yun said with a smile, “BBQ helped raise BTS too—didn’t they also start with the letter B?”

During filming, at Kim’s suggestion, Yun pledged to donate 1,000 chickens to students in Chungju. The video shows students sharing the donated chicken.
The video surpassed 400,000 views within about an hour of being uploaded. Commenters wrote things like, “Donating 1,000 chickens is amazing,” “The chairman is so generous,” “I’m a student at Chungju Jungangtap High School—thank you,” and “I’m having BBQ for dinner tonight.”
The official BBQ account announced an extra giveaway in the comments. “We forgot to promote the new menu,” they wrote. “We were going to give away the new menu, but we’ll give away Golden Olive Chicken. If you tag fun moments on the timeline, BBQ will give away 100 chickens over the course of a week.”
