Valentine’s Day Sales Surge: CU’s Character Goods, Including Pokémon and Snoopy, Soar by 34%!

CU reported a 19.4% increase in Valentine’s Day product sales from February 1-9 compared to last year, with character merchandise like Snoopy and Pokémon items seeing an impressive 34.0% growth.

This year, CU embraced a retro theme for Valentine’s Day, launching 17 collaborative items featuring Pokémon and Peanuts’ Snoopy.
These products have been a hit, accounting for 58% of total Valentine’s Day sales.
CU has seen a consistent rise in sales of unique products even on Pepero Day, typically the highest-grossing day for convenience stores: 23.2% in 2022, 29.3% in 2023, 31.9% in 2024, and 36.6% in 2025.
In fact, character merchandise dominates CU’s top 20 Valentine’s Day bestsellers.
The hottest items include the Pokémon keycap keyring, Eevee keycap keyring, Snoopy tumbler keyring set, Pokémon keycap, Snoopy folding cart, Pokémon plush book keyring, Snoopy padded pouch, Snoopy Bluetooth speaker, Pokémon acrylic keyring, and Snoopy automatic umbrella.
Jo Jun-hyung, BGF Retail’s snack food team leader, noted that convenience store promotional strategies now successfully boost overall sales by blending trendy merchandise with beloved characters.
