Unlock the Joy of ‘Seollentain’: Top Premium Dessert Gift Sets for 2026!

Daniel Kim Views

Lotte Department Store is making a bold move in the holiday gift market with an expanded range of premium dessert gift sets, celebrating the return of the ‘Seollentain’ season after a five-year hiatus since 2021.

‘Seollentain,’ a unique blend of Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, is expected to spark a surge in dessert gift demand as couples and families seek special ways to express love and gratitude.

Last Seollentain season saw dessert gift set sales, including chocolates, soar by an impressive 90%, proving the power of this festive fusion.

This year, Lotte is doubling down on its Lunar New Year dessert offerings, collaborating with top pastry chefs to bring exclusive, high-end treats to discerning shoppers.

Luxury chocolate gift sets are stealing the spotlight this Valentine’s Day. La Maison du Chocolat, the 40-year-old French chocolate maestro, is exclusively unveiling its ‘2026 New Year Collection Red Horse’ at Lotte, featuring artisanal chocolates in packaging inspired by the zodiac’s fiery equine.

Local pastry virtuosos are also bringing their A-game. Jeong Eun-jeong of ‘Touch by Honeybee Seoul’ is dazzling taste buds with her ‘Heart Bonbon Chocolate Box,’ offering an eight-layer flavor explosion in each bite. Meanwhile, Jeong Seung-ho from ‘Anive’ is tempting shoppers with ‘Damon Castella,’ a pillowy-soft cake enrobed in a trio of chocolate flavors.

Chocolate lovers, mark your calendars! From February 12-15, Lotte’s Jamsil branch is hosting a Valentine’s Day pop-up extravaganza in its basement level.

Get ready to indulge in limited-edition Valentine’s treasures from ‘Team Val,’ known for their chic zero-sugar chocolates, and ‘Brooyer,’ a century-old Belgian chocolate icon.

Baked goods are also getting a glow-up this season. Lotte’s exclusive collab with Jeong Tae-hwan, the pastry wizard behind celebrity hotspot ‘Atelier Pond,’ brings you the ‘Matcha Yuzu Pound Cake & Dragee Chocolate’ set.

Not to be outdone, Kim Soo-hee, a pastry pro from a top Korean hotel, is rolling out the ‘Shortcake Baked Goods Box,’ packed with crowd-pleasers like financiers and dacquoise.

Recognizing the growing gift-giving trend among families this Seollentain, Lotte’s beefing up its ‘Healthy Pleasure’ dessert sets, targeting the 40-60 crowd. This savvy move follows a 10% sales spike in this age group last season, now accounting for a whopping 60% of total dessert sales.

From K-desserts featuring local superfoods like dried persimmons and bellflower root, to cookies crafted with organic Korean wheat, Lotte’s got all bases covered.

Don’t miss the ‘Seohwa Baekdang Minghwa San-su Rice Steamed Castella,’ a work of edible art featuring traditional landscapes made from natural ingredients, or the ‘Minujae Yanggang Handmade Jelly and Confectionery Mixed Set,’ a sweet tribute to Korean red beans and natural sugars.

For couples and families looking to toast the occasion, Lotte’s offering dessert wines under 100,000 KRW (about 75 USD) that won’t break the bank. Snag a bottle of Ramos Pinto Tawny Port Wine from the legendary ‘Louis Roederer’ winery, once the go-to bubbly for emperors.

Or try the fruit-forward La Spinetta Moscato d’Asti, affectionately dubbed the ‘Three Generations Moscato Wine,’ or the Cadei Prati Cuvee Dei, a premium Italian Prosecco that’ll have you swooning over its floral bouquet.

Kim Kyung-sik, Lotte’s Deli & Bakery guru, gushes, “We’ve poured our hearts into curating these Seollentain dessert sets, making sure they’re perfect for sharing on this special day. Our goal? To spark joy from the moment you start browsing. Here’s to a sweet Seollentain and Valentine’s Day with Lotte!”
