
Netflix’s “Black and White Chef 1” star Yoon Nam-no, known as the “cooking fool,” is set to appear in MBC’s Lunar New Year special three-part series “Discovering the Dining Table.”
“Discovering the Dining Table” is MBC’s holiday treat that uncovers the love and wisdom hidden in traditional Korean cuisine. The show features top Korean chefs who put a fresh spin on authentic K-food and Korean culinary culture, serving up unique dining experiences inspired by everyday meals. Plus, viewers can expect a feast for the eyes with segments showcasing traditional crafts that are closely intertwined with Korean food culture.
Jang Geun-suk, a renowned foodie in the entertainment world and home-cooking guru, will host the series. Joining him are Yoon Nam-no, the “meat gangster” David Lee, and Chef Fabri, a passionate ambassador for Korean cuisine. Each will bring their unique flair to the kitchen. Adding to the mix are K-pop idol Tsuki, a self-proclaimed Korean food enthusiast, and writer Kwak Jae-sik, who’ll spice things up with entertaining food-related stories. From mouthwatering food porn to hands-on cooking, this show promises to deliver it all.
The premiere episode dives into “A Dining Table Enriched with Time and Care.” Viewers can look forward to a culinary extravaganza featuring chefs’ gourmet creations using traditional ingredients, along with juicy tidbits about Korean cuisine you never knew. Get ready for some laughs as Yoon Nam-no tries his hand at making fermented soybean blocks for the first time. His unpredictable antics during the process of boiling, grinding, and kneading soybeans will have you in stitches. Watch as the “Dining Table” crew takes on the challenge of making traditional gochujang (Korean red chili paste) from scratch.
The action then moves to a picturesque outdoor kitchen in a serene hanok (traditional Korean house), where the chefs work their magic with traditional doenjang (fermented soybean paste) and gochujang. David Lee flexes his culinary muscles with a mouthwatering dish featuring Hanwoo beef, a prized specialty from Yeongju in Gyeongsangbuk-do. His meat mastery is on full display, leaving host Jang Geun-suk practically drooling. As Jang samples David’s creation, his excitement is palpable – he’s literally jumping for joy, ramping up the anticipation for viewers at home.
