A chic detached house that invites you to savor the relaxed, romantic pace of suburban life is turning heads with its distinctive architecture. Located on the outskirts of Ghent, Belgium, this 165m² (about 1,776 sq ft / 50 pyeong) home began as a tired 1960s bungalow and was thoughtfully expanded and remodeled to fit modern lifestyles. The result is a stylish, comfortable family retreat that feels both contemporary and warm.

A dramatic extension converted the single-story house into a two-story home. The first floor houses the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, powder room and entrance. Upstairs are three bedrooms — including the master — plus a bathroom, providing a smart, family-friendly layout.

The generous yard, planted with lawn, flowers, herbs and trees, elevates outdoor living. It’s an inviting space for soaking up warm sunshine, enjoying fresh breezes and embracing the slow, pleasant rhythm of suburban life.

Bright natural light and cross-ventilation keep the living room fresh and welcoming. A sturdy solid-wood media console, a comfortable sofa, a coffee table and a floor lamp are arranged to create a warm, adaptable space that feels both cozy and current.

Pendant lighting and a tall cabinet give the dining room a touch of drama. A neat dining set paired with a wooden storage unit creates a moody, café-like atmosphere — perfect for relaxed dinners or an afternoon tea.

The kitchen features two-tone lower cabinets and matching storage finished with a stone countertop for a refined look. A cozy window-side breakfast nook completes the vintage-inspired kitchen, blending practicality with tasteful character.
