Kakao just rolled out a new “Together Use” feature on KakaoTalk Gifts that lets family members and friends jointly manage and redeem vouchers. Through family accounts, users can see voucher expiration in real time and get usage alerts to prevent double redemptions — finally eliminating the hassle of sharing screenshots. Kakao says this shifts gifting from an individual act to a relationship-centered experience while boosting convenience.
On April 29, Kakao announced the launch of the Together Use feature on KakaoTalk Gifts, enabling family and friends to use vouchers together.
A Kakao spokesperson said the feature is designed to make vouchers more flexible and to strengthen connections among group members.
They added that Kakao will continue improving the service so users can enjoy a more convenient and richer gifting experience.
Together Use allows vouchers that were previously stored individually to be shared and managed across a family account.
Until now, people had to screenshot or copy messages each time they shared vouchers with family or friends. The new feature removes that friction and lets users handle vouchers directly inside the Gifts folder.
Getting started is easy: open the new Together Use tab in the KakaoTalk Gifts folder, create a family account or accept an invite, and join an existing family account to begin.
Connected members can share and manage vouchers within the Gifts folder without a separate image-sharing step.
Members can check a shared voucher’s expiration date and whether it’s been used. The system sends alerts when someone redeems a voucher to prevent duplicate use among members.
There’s no need to save or forward voucher images anymore — users can view and redeem vouchers straight from the Gifts folder.
Kakao expects this feature to transform voucher use from a solo habit into a shared moment among family and friends, strengthening the overall user experience within its Gifts service.
