[NewsCulture reporter Park Dong-seon] TWICE solidified their standing among K-pop’s global elite by winning a trophy at the American Music Awards (AMA), one of the three major U.S. music ceremonies.
On the 27th, JYP Entertainment said TWICE won the Best Female K-pop Artist award at the American Music Awards held on the 25th (local time) at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Founded in 1974, the American Music Awards is one of the three most prestigious ceremonies in U.S. popular music. TWICE, first nominated in 2022, finally captured the trophy four years later, reaffirming their foothold in the mainstream pop market.
Because the AMA is decided entirely by fan votes, the win underscores the group’s efforts to engage global audiences since receiving Billboard’s Women in Music honor in 2023.
They launched their largest world tour, THIS IS FOR, in July of last year, maintaining close ties with fans worldwide. The North American leg — 20 cities — drew roughly 550,000 attendees, while a three-day run at Tokyo’s National Stadium attracted about 240,000 fans.
That on-the-ground enthusiasm translated into overwhelming voter support, underscoring the group’s singular stature and global influence as they enter their 12th year since debut.
TWICE is scheduled to close their European tour with concerts in Amsterdam on the 30th and 31st, following stops in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, Berlin and Cologne.
