[TV Daily reporter Han Seo-yul] K-pop powerhouse TWICE made history as the first K-pop girl group to win at the American Music Awards.
TWICE took home the trophy for Best Female K-Pop Artist at the American Music Awards on the 25th (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, United States. The AMAs are decided by fan votes. TWICE earned the honor while in the midst of their world tour, THIS IS FOR, which launched in Incheon in July of last year and is scheduled across 43 cities with a total of 78 shows. The North American leg, which concluded in April, spanned 35 shows in 20 cities and drew roughly 550,000 attendees. In Japan, the group played three nights at Tokyo National Stadium, attracting about 240,000 fans. Now on the European leg, TWICE has completed dates in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, Berlin and Cologne and is set to perform in Amsterdam on the 30th and 31st.
