[Sports Seoul | Reporter Lee Seung-rok] In 2026, artists under HYBE emerged as a defining force in the global music scene. BTS, KATSEYE and Tyla dominated the 52nd American Music Awards, collecting a total of eight trophies and proving they can cross regional and genre boundaries with ease.
The ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25 highlighted HYBE’s expanding influence. BTS earned Artist of the Year, while KATSEYE claimed New Artist of the Year—two of the AMAs’ most prestigious categories—marking a notable win for HYBE-affiliated labels BigHit Music and HYBE-Geffen Records.
Both BTS and KATSEYE finished the night with three awards apiece. BTS took home Artist of the Year and Best Male K-Pop Artist, and its lead single “SWIM” from the fifth full-length album ARIRANG won Song of the Summer. KATSEYE captured New Artist of the Year and Breakthrough Pop Artist, and their single “Gnarly” earned Best Music Video.
Tyla, managed by HYBE America, also made a strong showing. Her viral short-form hit “CHANEL” won Social Song of the Year, and she added Best Afrobeats Artist to her tally, finishing with two awards.
Tyla’s success in R&B and Afrobeats after partnering with HYBE America underscores the partnership’s reach. HYBE has supported her not only with production and tour backing but also through brand partnerships and IP collaborations, creating wider business synergies beyond record releases.
The results reflect HYBE’s “multi-home, multi-genre” approach: combining K-pop production methods and a global network with local musical identities. BTS’s enduring profile, KATSEYE’s breakout debut and Tyla’s genre versatility suggest that the industry playbook championed by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk is finding traction on the global stage.
HYBE now operates 16 labels across four regions—Korea, the U.S., Japan and Latin America—while asserting each label’s independence and creative autonomy. The company says it will continue pairing its K-pop system with local sounds to develop new IP. roku@sportsseoul.com
