[Herald Muse = Image Reporter] Kang Chan-hee, a member of K-pop group SF9 and an actor, will make his first theatrical appearance since his debut in the play Dead Poets Society.
He joins the cast of Dead Poets Society, which runs July 18–Sept. 13 at the NOL Theater Daehangno Woori Card Hall in Seoul.
Based on the film of the same name and set in 1959 America, the play follows John Keating, a newly appointed English teacher at the prestigious Welton Academy — a boarding school defined by strict rules and long-standing tradition. Keating introduces the students, long pressured to prioritize exams and conventional success, to the idea of “Carpe Diem” (seize the day), a lesson that sets in motion profound changes.
Kang will portray Neil Perry, an honor student who quietly nurtures a dream of becoming an actor while living under his father’s tight control. He is expected to convey Neil’s passionate, and ultimately heartrending, resistance as the character fights to pursue his true calling.
Preview performances are scheduled for July 18 and 19, ahead of the official opening on July 21.
