Artist Studio, the production company behind dramas such as The Youngest Son of a Chaebol Family and New Recruit, announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Shanghai Audio Video Publishing House, a first-tier state-owned cultural enterprise in Shanghai, to collaborate on video-content projects. The two companies said the agreement aims to deepen cultural exchange between Korea and China and to pursue joint film and television projects.
Through the agreement, they plan to cooperate across several areas: ▲ collaboration involving Korean and Chinese actors and artists on films, dramas, and commercials; ▲ distribution and commercialization of Korean video content within China; ▲ co-productions and cooperation on intellectual property (IP) development and licensing; and ▲ fan meetings, promotions, and production of media content.
The partnership is notable for combining Artist Studio’s strengths in content planning and production with Shanghai Audio Video Publishing House’s local distribution channels and industry networks. The companies said they intend to build a practical cooperation framework that spans project discovery, development and commercialization.
Under the MOU, Shanghai Audio Video Publishing House will lead market research in China, connect local resources, support project execution and coordinate distribution. Artist Studio will handle project development, distribution strategy and production execution leveraging its roster of actors, creative IP and planning capabilities.
Artist Studio has developed and produced a range of drama IPs — including The Youngest Son of a Chaebol Family, New Recruit and First Lady — and is known for projects that balance artistic merit with broad audience appeal.
Ahn Hyung-jo, CEO of Artist Studio, said, “Through this MOU, we plan to expand our business by focusing on IP growth for global markets and on Korea-China co-production projects.”
