[MyDaily = Reporter Park Seoyeon] Singer Wooz (Jo Seung-yeon) and his team are facing backlash over a call for unpaid on-site staff for his world tour.

On May 8, screenshots of a job posting seeking overseas concert staff for Wooz began circulating on online forums. The post sought volunteers for his June performances in Germany.

The notice appeared on a job board aimed at Koreans and students living in Germany and advertised volunteer roles for concert days.

The controversy centers on compensation. The posting specified concrete duties—maintaining crowd order, running the merchandise booth, and assisting the showrunner—but listed the positions as “unpaid,” offering only meals and the chance to watch the show in return.

It also outlined specific qualifications—fluency in Korean, German, and English; K-pop concert experience preferred; and knowledge of lighting or sound—which drew criticism for recruiting skilled labor on a volunteer basis.

The author of the volunteer post later announced that applications had closed and, addressing complaints about the unpaid positions, wrote that the organizer was recruiting unpaid volunteers who would be allowed to watch the concert. She added that it could be a good opportunity for fans and asked that only genuinely interested people apply. She also noted that interpreters would be paid.

Online commenters reacted sharply: \”Unpaid? That’s outrageous.\” \”They expect trilingual workers with technical sound knowledge and won’t pay—aren’t they exploiting people?\” \”This is a commercial concert—unpaid?\” \”Pay fair wages instead of using fans’ loyalty,\” \”Is the agency planning to take the money and disappear?\” \”Unpaid work in this day and age?\” \”How can volunteers properly watch the show if they’re working during it?\” and \”This likely violates German labor law,\” they wrote.

Ticket prices for Wooz’s June 12 concert in Frankfurt are listed as VIP €245.9 (about 420,000 KRW; roughly $263.11), Priority €110.9 (about 190,000 KRW; roughly $118.76), and General €90.9 (about 150,000 KRW; roughly $97.26).
