[Sports Today reporter Yoon Hye-young] K-pop supergroup BTS is slated to attend the American Music Awards (AMA), one of the three major music awards ceremonies in the United States.
On the 20th, the AMA announced that BTS will appear in person at the ceremony on the 25th at 5 p.m. at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This will be their first on-site AMA appearance since 2021 — roughly five years.
BTS has been nominated for the ceremony’s top honor, Artist of the Year. They will compete against nine international artists, including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. In 2021, BTS became the first Korean act to win that award.
The group also received nominations for Best Male K-Pop Artist and Song of the Summer, bringing their total to three nods. Notably, “SWIM,” the title track from their fifth studio album ARIRANG, was nominated for Song of the Summer less than a month after its release, reflecting strong global interest.
Across group and solo categories, BTS has amassed 12 AMAs. Their first came in 2018 when they won Favorite Social Artist, a prize they retained for three consecutive years through 2020. Since then, they have continued to earn recognition in major categories such as Tour of the Year and Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock.
In 2021 the group won three AMAs, including Artist of the Year, and in 2022 they were the inaugural winners of the newly created Favorite K-Pop Artist award. In 2025, RM captured that same category as a solo artist.
Meanwhile, BTS will stage their world tour “BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG IN LAS VEGAS” at Allegiant Stadium on May 23–24 and 27–28. Alongside the concerts, the citywide “BTS THE CITY ARIRANG – LAS VEGAS” project will offer events and interactive experiences across Las Vegas.
