[NewsCulture reporter Dongseon Park] JYP Entertainment is working to build a sustainable entertainment ecosystem by establishing a genuine system for social contribution.
On May 19, at the JYP Center in Seongnae-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, JYP signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital — a metropolitan public children’s rehabilitation hospital — to provide medical-cost assistance for children and adolescents with disabilities. The company donated ₩100,000,000 (about $75,000 USD).

The agreement builds on JYP’s flagship social program, EDM (Every Dream Matters!), launched in 2020 to help cover treatment costs. Working with partners such as Samsung Medical Center and World Vision, JYP has supported 4,101 young patients in 10 countries, contributing a total of ₩7,920,000,000 (about $5.94 million). This record of sustained, systematic giving — not one-off gestures — underpins the new long-term partnership.
Notably, the company has broadened its social-safety-net support beyond major surgeries and treatments to include rehabilitation services that help patients return to daily life. JYP’s philosophy — to leave no gaps in supporting the healthy development of children and adolescents — and this initial ₩100,000,000 donation aim to set a model for sustainable ESG practices across the K-pop industry through a durable partnership.
The seed donation of ₩100,000,000 will be used transparently to cover practical rehabilitation costs and to purchase essential assistive devices for disabled children and young adults up to age 24 who face financial hardship.
Byun Sang-bong, JYP’s vice president, said, “We hope this donation will help the pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation system Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital has developed to grow and extend its reach to a wider region.” Lee Ji-seon, director of Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, expressed gratitude, saying, “We sincerely thank JYP for this meaningful partnership. We will use the funds carefully to support rehabilitation treatments and the purchase of assistive devices so they provide tangible help to patients and their families.”
JYP said it will continue the EDM treatment-support program this year and expand other ESG initiatives — including employee volunteer activities and the environmental project “Love Earth” — fulfilling its responsibilities as a global entertainment company.
