BTS to Headline Halftime Show at 2026 World Cup Final
BTS (Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook) will perform during the halftime show at the final of the 2026 FIFA North and Central America World Cup.
On the 14th, Global Citizen and FIFA announced that BTS will co-headline the halftime show at the July 19 final at a stadium in New Jersey. It will be the first time a halftime show is staged at a World Cup final. BTS will share the stage with pop icons Madonna and Shakira in a performance designed to unite viewers worldwide.
BTS said, “We believe music is a universal language that brings hope and unity. We are honored to share that message with a global audience and to help expand educational opportunities for children.” The performance is intended to promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund campaign for children in underserved areas, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin will curate the show.
Lee Gi-taek Joins 2 Days & 1 Night as the Show’s Youngest Member
Actor Lee Gi-taek, a newcomer to variety shows, will join Season 4 of 2 Days & 1 Night as the program’s youngest member. He replaces entertainer Jo Se-ho and actor Yoo Seon-ho.

Singer Seongri was crowned the first champion of Unknown Legend.
In the May 13 finale of MBN’s Unknown Legend—The Hierarchy War of Trot Men, Seongri finished first with a commanding 4,784 points. He said, “It’s amazing and I’m grateful. Refusing to give up my dream seems to have made this dazzling day possible.”
The episode posted a 9.3% paid-household rating and peaked at 10.1%, a series high that reinforced its place as the top Wednesday variety program.
Final rankings were also shaped by national participation scores, including about 1.14 million real-time text votes. The title went to Seongri, who endured 15 years of anonymity.
Haru, who sang a lament for her grandparents and mother, placed second. Jang Han-byul, who left dental school to pursue singing, finished third. Former Romeo member Hwang Yoon-sung was fourth; Jeong Yeon-ho, who leaned into traditional trot, was fifth; Lee Chang-min, who overcame a slump, was sixth; and Iru-ne, who showed devotion to her 93-year-old mother, rounded out the Top 7.
The Unknown Legend Top 7 will tour the country and meet fans, starting with a dinner show on the 20th.

On Season 31 of I Am SOLO, contestant Sun-ja was rushed to the emergency room after severe stress triggered acute stomach cramps.
The May 13 episode on ENA and SBS Plus showed the Solonara group in turmoil as decisions diverged from mission outcomes. The contest’s romantic lines shifted dramatically after the Super Date Pass mission.
