K-pop group BTS will perform at the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in North and Central America.
Global Citizen and FIFA announced on the 14th (local time) that BTS will serve as co-headliners of the halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The group is set to share the stage with Madonna and Shakira.
This will be the first time a halftime show takes place during a World Cup final. In a statement, BTS said they are “deeply honored to stand on a stage that brings the world together.” “We believe music is a universal language that delivers hope and unity,” they added, noting that the World Cup gives them a chance to share that message with global audiences and to support efforts to expand educational opportunities for children.
Global Citizen, which is producing the halftime show, is an advocacy organization that stages campaigns and music events aimed at ending poverty and addressing climate change, public health, and access to education. The performance will be broadcast live worldwide, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin will serve as curator.
This appearance comes roughly four years after BTS last appeared on a FIFA stage, when Jungkook performed at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Jungkook contributed vocals to the official soundtrack “Dreamers” and took part in the ceremony.
BTS performed as a group at Global Citizen Live in 2021, and Jungkook appeared at the Global Citizen Festival in 2023, maintaining the group’s ties with the organization.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America opens on June 11 and runs through the final on July 19. The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, and it will be the first World Cup contested under a 48-team format.
Meanwhile, BTS will perform on the 16th–17th and the 20th at Stanford Stadium in the United States as part of their world tour ARIRANG. They will be the first Korean act to hold a solo concert at that venue.
