Pop icon Madonna, singer-songwriter Shakira and global sensation BTS will co-headline the halftime show on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Global Citizen says this will be the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final. The concert — bringing together global superstars for a moment that blends sport, culture and social purpose — will be broadcast live worldwide. Characters from the U.S. children’s TV show Sesame Street and The Muppets will also join the lineup, promising a show for all ages.
FIFA and Global Citizen are staging the halftime show to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The initiative aims to raise $100 million (about ₩150 billion) to expand access to quality education and football programs for children around the world.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is curating the performance. The World Cup connects people across the globe, and this halftime show is meant to combine music and sport to create more opportunities for children everywhere.
Following the Global Citizen Festival in 2024, FIFA and Global Citizen launched a four-year partnership to broaden sports and education opportunities for children worldwide. As part of that collaboration, Global Citizen is producing the first-ever World Cup final halftime show to pair music with social messaging and inspire action. Promotional campaigns are underway to attract new partners and donations from charities, companies and individual donors.
