Hyori-Soo vs. Taetiseo: Who Will Reign Supreme in the K-Pop Comedy Scene?

On the evening of the 6th, tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block featured members of Girls’ Generation’s new subunit HyoriSoo — Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung — for a candid conversation.

HyoriSoo originally set out as a counterpoint to the earlier hit subunit TTS (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun), which had long dominated vocal parts. Sooyoung, reflecting on past slights, quipped, “Honestly, my mother sometimes doesn’t even know when I’m performing,” a remark that drew laughter.

The recording marked HyoriSoo’s debut. As soon as they arrived for their first official schedule, the trio realized they didn’t have a formal greeting and decided to invent one on the spot. Each wore a distinct concept, and their mismatched chemistry earned them the nickname “a rising comedy group” from host Yoo Jae-suk.

Yuri added, “A few days ago, Lee Sang-soon heard our group name and asked, ‘What has Hyori gotten up to now?’” Yoo Jae-suk said, “It seems like they put the group together as a joke, but I actually laughed a lot.”

All three remain members of Girls’ Generation and are active across entertainment fields as singers, hosts, actors and musical theater performers.
