[SPOTV News reporter Bae Sun-young] Daesung of Big Bang shared behind-the-scenes stories from Coachella in the United States.
On the 1st, Daesung discussed Coachella on the YouTube channel JibDaesung.
When asked how it felt to have \”slayed\” Coachella, he laughed and said, \”Come on, everyone. Slayed what? We had to keep it together.\” He noted the group performed as a trio for the first time in years and added that he was grateful so many people responded positively.
On choosing trot as his Coachella song — a first for the festival — he said he wasn’t trying to make a patriotic statement. While preparing his solo stage, he thought it was something only he could do, so he went for it.
About the large LED screen that displayed the Korean caption 안녕하세요. 대성입니다, he said there was no grand intent. \”That was the main screen, and Yong-sama (G-Dragon) suggested in rehearsal writing ‘My name is Daesung’ in English. I had planned to say ‘Hello, I’m Daesung’ in Korean, so I wrote it in Hangul. I developed Yong-sama’s idea into Korean.\”
He also recounted a frightening incident while preparing for the show. \”My manager’s hotel was robbed — our luggage was taken and a passport was stolen, so I had to enter using an emergency passport,\” he said. He added that a similar theft happened previously in Hawaii: while filming, someone smashed a car window, grabbed the manager’s bag and fled. \”I’ve now had my passport stolen twice,\” he confessed.
