[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] BTS member J-Hope received news during a concert in Japan that his maternal grandmother had passed away, but he completed the performance, demonstrating professional composure.
J-Hope posted several photos on the 20th with the caption “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’. TOKYO.”
The images show him onstage in Tokyo and in quieter moments afterward: walking in the rain with fellow member V and sharing a meal. In the final shot, he appears to be in tears — a moment that moved fans.
Onstage, J-Hope said, “After I arrived in Japan, I received news that the grandmother who raised me since I was young had passed away. I was really shocked and stunned.” He added that sharing meals with the members and preparing for the concert helped calm him.
He said his maternal grandmother “always took great pride not only in me but in the other members as well.” He thanked ARMY for making the stage more meaningful and reassured fans, “I’m really okay,” before finishing the show and giving his all.
Meanwhile, after completing their Japan dates, BTS will continue their North American tour at Raymond James Stadium in the U.S. on the 25th–26th and the 28th. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
