[SPO-TV News = Reporter Bae Seon-young] Im Seong-han, the creator of ‘Doctor Shin’ (Phoebe), made a voice-only appearance on a YouTube channel.
On the 17th, Im joined Um Eun-hyang’s YouTube live as an audio guest. Um had promoted the appearance, and outlets treated it as Im’s first YouTube live since her debut—drawing attention. The segment, however, proved to be little more than a publicity stunt.
That day Im said, \”You may be disappointed I didn’t appear in person, but don’t you already know my face? I look exactly like the photos—embarrassingly provincial.\”
She explained why she doesn’t hire assistant writers: \”Someone who writes as well as I do has no reason to be my assistant, and I have no reason to hire someone who writes worse.\”
Im also shared an update on her niece, actress Baek Ok-dam. \”She’s married and raising her children well,\” Im said.
When Um asked whether she planned to involve Im in her next project, Im replied, \”I’m not sure whether I should write more dramas. I’m thinking of taking a few years off from drama writing.\”
Im, who debuted in 1990, penned hits including ‘Bogo Tto Bogo,’ ‘Haneuli Siyo,’ ‘Mermaid Lady,’ ‘Aurora Princess,’ and ‘Marriage Lyrics, Divorce Composition.’ She maintains a low public profile, cultivating an air of mystery. Her distinctive dialogue and mesmerizing delivery have attracted younger audiences—millennials and Gen Z—sparking a renewed wave of rewatching her shows.
