How Lee Hye-seong’s 100 Million Won Donation to Honor Society Inspires Young Philanthropists

[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Former KBS announcer and broadcaster Lee Hye-sung announced she has joined a circle of major donors.
On the 10th, Lee posted on her social media that she became the 483rd member of Seoul’s Honor Society and that she had donated 100 million KRW (about $68,000).
“I don’t even own a home, so it might seem presumptuous for me to take part in something like this,” she said. “But I wondered whether there should be a specific time or place to give. While I’m young and full of drive, I wanted to join as soon as I could.”
Lee added that her “1% Book Club” has been growing thanks to public support, and she wants to give that love back through books. She said future YouTube earnings she donates will be used to help children with leukemia and other rare diseases build hope and resilience through reading.
“This donation has given me extra motivation to push harder on YouTube,” she said. “I’ll keep working hard and showing you my best.”
The Honor Society is a group of individual major donors who have given at least 100 million KRW (about $68,000); members include celebrities such as IU, Suzy and Im Si-wan.
Meanwhile, Lee recently appeared on MBN’s baking survival show Cheonha Jebbang: Bake Your Dream, where she advanced to the program’s top 10.
