[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] On the April 9 edition of KBS2’s variety show Problem Children of the Rooftop, actor Ahn Jae-hyun addressed persistent rumors about his sexuality.
The episode, which featured singer K.Will alongside Ahn, turned to the music video for K.Will’s song “Please Don’t Do This,” which starred Ahn and Seo In-guk. K.Will noted the video became a surprise hit; co-panelist Joo Woo-jae pointed out it has racked up 85 million views and even spawned reaction videos overseas.
The clip contains a twist in which Seo In-guk’s character harbors a one-sided crush on Ahn — a detail Ahn said he hadn’t realized at the time of filming. “I went to the shoot thinking, ‘Yes, I’ll do it,’ ” he recalled. “The ending shows me sitting next to In-guk, and I wondered, ‘Am I dead? Is this a flashback?’ It turned out to be the director’s larger plan.”
K.Will said the video effectively turned the two into an international gay phenomenon, boosted further by foreign reaction videos. He added that he later released a follow-up video that felt like a sequel.
Ahn also said rumors about his sexuality followed him from his modeling days. “In the modeling world, we often do both menswear and womenswear,” he explained. “If you do both well, rumors like this spread — it’s a sign you’re doing your job well.” Former model Joo Woo-jae echoed the point, noting, “At women’s shows there are usually two or three male models onstage, and Jae-hyun was always one of them.”
