[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Mamamoo member Hwasa says she showed a distinctive fashion sense from childhood and shared behind-the-scenes stories about the song \”Good Goodbye.\”

On the 7th, the YouTube channel ‘TEO 테오’ posted a video titled Spring Heel Secrets from Hwasa | EP. 134 Hwasa | Salon Drip.

That day, host Jang Do-yeon asked whether Hwasa had seen the touching anecdote actor Yoon Kyung-ho recently shared about her. Hwasa said she had, noting that her Blue Dragon Film Awards performance spawned a lot of fancams—multiple versions went viral. She admitted she couldn’t bring herself to watch one of them at first, but her stylist showed it to her and she remembered Yoon looking at her so tenderly.

Hwasa added that audience reactions at awards shows mean a great deal to performers. Seeing Yoon’s reaction moved her, and she watched that fancam several times. Out of gratitude, she later ran into him again at the ‘Pinggego’ awards (no prior arrangement had been made to sing together). Nervous that day, she spotted him in the crowd and impulsively took off her shoes and went over; he was surprised but joined her onstage, she revealed.

When Jang Do-yeon called the moment perfect, Hwasa agreed. She said she was so elated on the way home she couldn’t stop smiling. She even gave him a prized pine mushroom as a gift—something she joked everyone wanted. It was, she said, the most thrilling commute home of her career, and she was happy he repeated those kind words.

Hwasa previously made headlines for buying a car for a staffer she’s worked with for 10 years and for gifting luxury bags and New Year money to her entire team. Praised by Jang Do-yeon for taking care of her staff, Hwasa explained that after working together for so long and earning more, she doesn’t feel stingy about giving back. \”My sisters have the same schedules I do, but I earn more, so I want to do more for them,\” she said.

Asked if that’s why she invites staff to bathhouses, Hwasa said everyone loves hot springs; warming up together builds affection. She added that it’s not difficult for her—she’d even go with Jang Do-yeon if the host liked hot springs. Jang Do-yeon joked that only two people had invited her to saunas or hot springs—Gabi and Hwasa—and quipped she doesn’t play to lose, but she’d meet them anyway.

The conversation turned to a sauna anecdote. Hwasa said she’s a fan of the character Kuromi and once brought a Kuromi bath basket. One makeup artist scrubbed her heels with a glove that looked like a snowman, then sprayed water and the heels sparkled, which made everyone laugh. Jang Do-yeon teased whether that’s why Hwasa went barefoot for \”Good Goodbye,\” and they both laughed.

Hwasa also shared the story behind \”Good Goodbye.\” She explained the song is about a good farewell—not limited to romantic breakups. Before the release, she played it for acquaintances and reactions were split: half didn’t grasp the meaning, while the other half were deeply moved. She said she has experienced good farewells, is experiencing them now, and expects to in the future. For her, a good goodbye is one that sends the other person off with support—cheering them on even when feelings are complicated. Because she’s had petty farewells, she feels she could also have good ones.

When Jang Do-yeon asked whether she’s ever checked an ex’s social media, Hwasa laughed and admitted she has, pretending not to have seen it. Jang Do-yeon noted that Instagram Stories leave a record; Hwasa said she didn’t know at first and kept watching out of curiosity and support, only to have a friend point out she’d viewed the Story. She was surprised, watched for a while, and then stopped.

Asked if anyone might think, \”That’s my story,\” when they hear \”Good Goodbye,\” Hwasa said she’s sure some listeners would feel that way—and possibly cry.

On handling anger, Hwasa said she tries not to show it in public, which has pros and cons. She also admitted she forgets easily—even the good things.

The youngest of three sisters, Hwasa said she was doted on but stubborn as a child—her sisters joked she belonged on those makeover shows. During the IMF crisis, when the family struggled, her mother once tearfully told her to leave the house; the shock made Hwasa start using formal speech with elders, a habit that followed and amused the hosts.

Asked what set her apart as a kid, Hwasa pointed to her fashion. She said she loved Madonna, Britney Spears, and Beyoncé and dressed almost like stage costumes—fishnets, garter belts, and denim paired with garters—to express her own style. She thinks this started in the first year of middle school. Her sisters would pretend not to see her in public, and her father would just sigh, \”There she goes again,\” she recalled with a laugh.

Hwasa said she expects Mamamoo to make a comeback around the summer. She also recalled a scare the day before a solo concert when her humidifier broke. It was January, and without a humidifier her throat would suffer, so she ordered the fastest-delivery humidifier she could find. It turned out to be a heated unit; it was so heavy that when she dropped it, scalding water—over 100 degrees Celsius—spilled out. She stepped into the spill rather than having it pour on her body and ended up in the emergency room.

At the hospital they told her to come back the next morning, which made her cry because she had to perform. The next day, when the bandages were removed, everything except her heel was blistered—a second-degree burn. She said she performed in sneakers with the bandages still on. Jang Do-yeon marveled that the heel she had recently exfoliated was the only part that escaped serious damage, and the hosts reacted with sympathy.

Hwasa said she set her mindset before going onstage—determined to go all out—and didn’t notice the pain during the performance. After the show she returned to the hospital; the bandages were removed and the blisters had mostly subsided. Doctors told her the quick initial care helped the burns heal. Now only a slight scorch remains and the area is clean.

Toward the end of the video, the drama 21st Century Great Lady teased appearances by IU, Byeon Woo-seok, Noh Sang-hyun, and Gong Seung-yeon. In the preview, when Jang Do-yeon asked about the wall-kiss scene, Byeon Woo-seok joked that noses touch when you kiss; IU laughed that there was a nose mark on her cheek. When Noh Sang-hyun asked how many takes they did, IU replied, \”Countless,\” drawing attention.
