[Sports Today reporter Song O-jeong] The production company behind Netflix’s original series Beauty in the Beast (working title) apologized after locals complained that filming along Busan’s Gaegum-dong Cherry Blossom Path disrupted visitors.
On April 4, the company said in a statement that shooting on April 1 and 2 along the Gaegum-dong cherry blossom path proceeded after it sent official letters and requested cooperation from the Busanjin District Office, the Busanjin Police Station and other relevant agencies. The company said it deployed management staff, including police officers, and implemented necessary on-site controls in accordance with established procedures.
It issued a sincere apology for inconveniencing people who had come to enjoy the cherry blossoms and said it will take greater care in future shoots to minimize impacts on the surrounding environment and on public use.
Recently, posts on social media and online communities criticized the Netflix drama shoot at the Gaegum Cultural Cherry Blossom Path — a popular cherry blossom spot — for causing disruptions. Many users also complained about a lack of clear guidance regarding crowd control.
