Emotional Farewell: Park Bo-gum Bids Goodbye to ‘Bogum Magical’ with Heartfelt Memories

[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Park Bo-gum, the star of tvN’s ‘Bogum Magical,’ shared tearful goodbyes with the regulars he’d grown close to and said he’s looking forward to seeing them again.

In the series finale of the variety show, which aired on the 3rd, Park Bo-gum joined Lee Sang-yi and Kwak Dong-yeon as they wrapped up the barbershop’s service.

That day, Park took the final appointment: a servicemember who came in for a haircut.

As he worked through the customer’s requests with practiced ease, Park reflected on his military days. He recalled studying for a barber’s license in the army, when cutting his fellow soldiers’ hair was a primary duty. He said he pursued the license with the hope that he could one day use that skill to help people in need, and that the final day gave him time to revisit that mindset.

Emotions ran high among the customers. Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi and Kwak Dong-yeon embraced the patrons they’d bonded with and expressed how much they would miss them.

Kwak Dong-yeon told the production team that he tends to form relationships only with people he’s willing to open his heart to and invest in. On the show, he said, others approached him warmly and opened up first, which made it natural for him to respond in kind. “I realized that I didn’t get close first and then open up; opening up is often what brings people closer,” he reflected, calling it a lesson in how human relationships develop.

The head of the women’s association, who had previously moved Park with a story about her mother-in-law’s dementia, visited the shop as well. Park wiped away tears during their final farewell. He also revisited the home of the elderly woman who had been his first house-call client and, despite his sadness, promised he would return.

Lee Sang-yi said a heartfelt goodbye to a 92-year-old customer, assuring her, “I mean it — I’ll come back when the weather warms and the fireflies return.”

Together, Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi and Kwak Dong-yeon encouraged locals and passersby to participate in painting a mural in the alley in front of the barbershop. On the last night, the three stood before the finished mural and inscribed their names.

Even after the broadcast ended, the ‘Bogum Magical’ barbershop continued operating as a community gathering spot. Speaking to residents of Muju, Park choked up and said he hopes he remains in the hearts of the elders and the children. “Please keep visiting ‘Bogum Magical,’” he said. “I’ll remember the time we shared and look forward to the day we meet again. I’m deeply grateful for everyone’s kindness.”
