Behind the glitzy TV persona was a painful family secret she had buried 31 years earlier.
Singer and TV personality Lee Ji-hye used her YouTube channel “Likeable Attention-Seeking Sister” on April 2 to reveal, for the first time, the teenage turmoil and family wounds she had long kept to herself. The episode featured Kim Baek-mun, a foot-reading expert with 35 years of experience, who examined the marks on Lee’s feet to trace her life story.
After inspecting her feet, the expert told her, “You suffered a great deal early on. The many transverse lines show clear evidence of a life filled with pain.” Lee fell silent for a moment, then said, “It was really hard. Life itself felt like pain.”
Tension filled the room when the expert identified age 16 (1995) as the toughest turning point in her life. Lee admitted, “I dropped out, ran away, and went abroad to study. I really drifted during that time.”

She said the catalyst for her rebellion was her father’s infidelity. “My father had an affair back then,” she said. “Those painful events piled up, and puberty became unbearable,” she added, laying bare the hurt caused by her father’s betrayal.
Lee recalled that setbacks continued and that her life hit a low point for years. The expert later noted that her fortunes turned 180 degrees at age 38 — precisely when Lee met her husband, Moon Jae-wan. “My husband was the person who changed my life,” she said, expressing deep affection for him.
Lee debuted in 1998 as a member of the group Shop. She married tax accountant Moon Jae-wan in 2017, and the couple has two daughters. She now splits her time between YouTube and variety shows and is enjoying a second heyday thanks to her distinctive persona.
