[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Broadcaster Amy — who served a prison sentence on drug charges and has since stepped away from the spotlight — shared an update on her personal life.
On April 1, she posted on her social media: “A new chapter of my life begins now.”
She wrote that she’s beginning to smile again and is trying to be brave. “I pulled myself back up after falling apart, and I’m challenging myself in every way,” she said. “I’ve lost weight to get back to who I was before. I want to go outside, stop being afraid of people, and carry myself with confidence,” she added, vowing to reclaim her life.
Amy said she is working to rebuild her life and added, “The truth will come out someday.”
An American citizen, Amy made her debut in 2008 on Olive’s variety program Villain Diary Season 3. She appeared on numerous shows through 2012. Her career was disrupted after authorities deported her in 2012 over propofol allegations and again in 2014 over zolpidem allegations. After returning to South Korea in 2021, she was arrested on methamphetamine charges and served a three-year prison sentence; she has since been released.
