TV personality Tak Jae-hoon opens up about his father’s business.
The March 29 episode of SBS’s My Ugly Duckling (commonly called Miwoosae) stages a spring outing that pits the show’s original lineup — the “Old Miwoosae” — against newer faces dubbed the “New Miwoosae,” promising a string of comic moments.
At a recent taping, veterans Tak Jae-hoon, Im Won-hee, Heo Kyung-hwan and Choi Jin-hyuk gathered together. When new cast members Yoon Hyun-min, Yoon Si-yoon and Jo Jin-se arrived, the older members wasted no time ribbing them, quipping, “You look way too normal for Miwoosae,” and “If you’re happy, you’re not Miwoosae,” to uproarious laughter. They also warned a hopeful newcomer angling for a regular spot that slacking wouldn’t be tolerated. The entrance of a hulking prospective member — whose presence upended both the outdoor set and the studio — left everyone buzzing about his identity.
Next came a pride-fueled showdown: a quiz on four-character idioms and proverbs between the Old and New camps. Tension spiked when contestants learned that wrong answers would be punished with a giant toy hammer wielded by the burly hopeful. What followed was a parade of wildly wrong guesses and, in a moment that stunned the cast, the hammer split into two — turning the taping into a laugh-fueled spectacle.

The production then staged a sizable celebration to mark an important milestone in Tak Jae-hoon’s life. To heighten the drama, the show brought in a life-graph expert to map his fortunes. The analyst walked the room through detailed forecasts for Tak’s wealth, romance and marriage by decade and stunned attendees by saying Tak’s saju — the Korean four-pillar fortune chart — bears resemblance to that of K-pop star G-Dragon. The expert also weighed in on prospects for inheriting Tak’s father’s business, a revelation that immediately captured everyone’s attention.
The analyst added that Heo Kyung-hwan, who is currently riding a career high, has hidden reasons behind his recent surge and can expect a notably strong romantic year ahead. The studio’s regular “Mom Avengers” reacted with laughter and tears to the expert’s single line, leaving viewers curious about the full readings.
Outside the studio, Tak’s father Bae Jo-ung is reported to serve as chairman of the Korea Ready-Mix Concrete Industry Cooperative Federation and runs a ready-mix concrete company with annual sales of 18 billion KRW (about 13.5 million USD).
Tune in to SBS’s My Ugly Duckling at 9 p.m. on the 29th to watch the episode.
