[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] Yano Shiho delivered a candid, heartbreaking confession on KBS2’s New Product Launch ‘Pyeonstorang’.
On the March 27 broadcast of KBS2’s New Product Launch ‘Pyeonstorang’ (hereafter Pyeonstorang), versatile star Lee Jung-hyun, \”elite butler\” Oh Sang-jin, and positivity icon Yano Shiho competed in a \”chicken battle\” menu challenge. In a closely contested episode, Oh Sang-jin won the title and the product-release honor with his samgye-sotbap (ginseng chicken rice pot). Meanwhile, ever-upbeat Yano Shiho surprised viewers by opening up about a private, painful experience.
That day, Yano arrived at her close friend Ayumi’s home carrying armfuls of gifts. Ayumi — who married a businessman two years her senior in 2022 and is raising a 19-month-old daughter, Sea-ah — greeted her warmly. Yano presented a luxury lipstick and a baby dress and had even brought dozens of high-priced Dubai chewy cookies (두쫀쿠). Watching on a video call, Yano’s daughter Sarang exclaimed \”Oh my God,\” prompting laughter from the group.
Ayumi’s new house drew attention as well. Even Yano — who owns a Tokyo residence estimated at 5 billion KRW (3.75 million USD) — marveled at its size. Joking that Choo Sung-hoon’s room is only a quarter the size of Ayumi’s daughter Sea-ah’s room, she got a laugh from everyone. Yano also cooked a nutrient-rich soup curry for Ayumi, who has little time for self-care while parenting, which visibly moved her friend.
The two then moved into an honest conversation about childbirth and parenting. When Ayumi mentioned she was considering a second child, Yano urged her to \”hurry up!\” and the pair traded candid, sometimes risqué, mom talk that lightened the mood. Yano then revealed a much more solemn memory: she had been pregnant with a second child at 40 but ultimately miscarried. She said she blamed herself and was so shaken that she stopped thinking about having another baby — a confession that stunned those around her.
Yano recalled that her family — Choo Sung-hoon and daughter Sarang — didn’t push the subject; instead, they stayed by her side. She described how a family trip to Hawaii helped them begin to heal. The Pyeonstorang cast praised her for the courage to share such a difficult story, and the moment underscored the resilience behind Yano’s famously positive outlook.
On the lighter side, Oh Sang-jin won the episode’s chicken-battle menu challenge. Known for his mastery of pot rice, Oh’s samgye-sotbap captured the flavor and nutrition of samgye-tang in a single pot, earning praise as a premium, health-forward dish and taking the top prize. In Butler-like fashion, Oh offered a brief victory remark: \”Thank you, Soyoung. I love you.\”
Oh Sang-jin’s winning dish, the samgye-sotbap, will be released as a ready-to-eat product by OurHome and will also be featured in OurHome cafeteria menus nationwide.
Toward the end of the broadcast, Pyeonstorang regulars Lee Chan-won and Kim Jun-hyun made a surprise appearance to announce that the show will move to a new timeslot: beginning April 3, Pyeonstorang will air every Friday at 9:40 p.m. The shift into a prime Friday-night slot signals the program’s growing prominence.
